Editing

If the content being digitised is broadcast or distribution masters, a common requirement now is to remove the breaks that would have been traditionally inserted for linear playout on commercial channels.

This is because the content is often now being served to a VoD or archive where such breaks are not needed. We can do this efficiently using frame accurate editors built into our portals – allowing us to pass on the cost of not having to tie up edit suites for such tasks. Full segment metadata is stored about the original asset (e.g. where the original break timecodes occurred) – so that the new asset which has these breaks removed can be understood in relation to the original timecodes.
